The Redeem Team

Netflix has dropped the trailer of its upcoming basketball documentary The Redeem Team, based on the gold medal run of the US basketball team in the 2008 Olympics.

The US has been a dominant force in basketball and in the Olympics since the sport was introduced in the global event. However, in 2004, the US basketball team went on to lose to Argentina in the semi-final of the Athens Olympics, settling for bronze with a team that featured stars like Allen Iverson, Tim Duncan, Stephon Marbury and the young trio of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.

The Redeem Team follows the 2008 team headlined by Kobe Byrant, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, James, Wade, and Anthony, tasked with the mission to reclaim its top rank in the Beijing Olympics.

Created by the people behind Netflix’s The Last Dance, the upcoming documentary will feature never-seen-before footage of training and interviews with all the stars, including pre-recorded interviews of the late Byrant and recent interviews of LeBron James.

The Redeem Team will be streaming from October 7.
