Netflix has dropped the trailer of Ravi Kishan-headlined courtroom comedy series Maamla Legal Hai, which follows a bunch of “jugaadu” lawyers solving cases with their unconventional tactics and rib-tickling shenanigans. Set to stream from March 1, the show also features Naila Grewal, Nidhi Bisht and Anant V Joshi in important roles.

The two-minute-23-second-long trailer, dropped by the streamer on Friday, provides a glimpse into the fictional world of Patparganj District Court where lawyers love throwing the word “objection” without any reason and challenging the long arms of justice with their quick wit and punchlines.

From a parrot being put on trial to a budding lawyer wanting to have an air-conditioned chamber, the trailer offers a hilarious take on the life of lawyers and judges in the district court.

Besides showing Kishan’s comedic timing and 12th Fail actor Anant V Joshi’s lively presence, the Maamla Legal Hai trailer also brings out the serious aspects of the series which often get dissolved into humour. Their peculiarities are soon challenged by Naila Grewal’s Ananya Shroff, a Harvard LLM graduate, who joins the team and questions their lack of professionalism.

“Inka sirf coat kaala hai par dil nahi (Only the coat that they wear is black, not their hearts),” says a voiceover at the end of the trailer as the lawyers are seen celebrating amongst themselves after winning a case.

Directed by Rahul Pandey, Maamla Legal Hai is written by Saurabh Khanna and Kunal Aneja. Produced by Posham Pa Pictures, known for backing Jaadugar and Kaala Paani, the series has Sameer Saxena as the showrunner.

“This is my first time donning the character of a lawyer and I can't tell you how much fun it was. Working with Sameer, Rahul, and Saurabh was a delight, their vision truly inspired me,” Ravi Kishan said in a statement.

“After ‘Khakee’, this is my second project with Netflix, and I love how they challenge every actor with diverse roles. I hope the audience enjoys watching ‘Maamla Legal Hai’ as much as we enjoyed making it,” he added.

Also starring Anjum Batra, Vijay Rajoria, Yashpal Sharma and Tanvi Azmi, Maamla Legal Hai is slated to premiere on Netflix on March 1.
