Marvel Studios has unveiled a new teaser for Loki Season 2, looking back at actor Tom Hiddleston’s over-a-decade-long stint as the God of Mischief in MCU films with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showing his journey from auditions to the sets of Loki.
Loki Season 2, a sequel to the 2021 series, is set to start streaming on Disney+Hotstar from October 5.
"Burdened with glorious purpose for over a decade. Marvel Studios’ Loki Season 2, an Original series, starts streaming October 5 at 6PM PT, only on @DisneyPlus. (previously recorded),” Marvel Studios wrote on Instagram alongside the teaser.
The video offers glimpses of Hiddleston's Marvel Cinematic Universe audition for the role of Thor, which was later given to Chris Hemsworth. It's a journey that began with a single audition and transformed Loki into the beloved, enigmatic, and often mischievous character that fans can't get enough of, a voiceover says.
The video also includes behind-the-scenes glimpses of Hiddleston's introduction to the Marvel franchise, highlighting the moments that paved the way for his iconic portrayal of the God of Mischief. Hiddleston himself shares his thoughts on the joys of bringing this anti-hero to life on the big screen.
“What I loved about playing Loki is he plays all the keys on the piano. He can be fun, comedic, but also volatile, angry,” Hiddleston says in the featurette video. “I am excited to be back,” he adds.
Loki Season 2 promises to pick up right where the jaw-dropping season finale left off, thrusting Loki into a battle for the very soul of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Alongside Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and a host of new and returning characters, Loki embarks on a perilous journey through a sprawling and increasingly perilous Multiverse. His mission? To find Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and uncover the truth about free will and the glorious purpose that awaits.
Loki Season 2 is directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, known for their recent work on the Moon Knight series. The cast, headlined by Tom Hiddleston as Loki, also welcomes back Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.
Joining this stellar ensemble are franchise newcomers Ke Huy Quan, Rafael Casal and Kate Dickie from Game of Thrones, promising an exciting expansion of the Loki universe.
