A video of Nagarjuna filming a scene for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming movie Coolie in Visakhapatnam recently surfaced online, prompting a reaction from the director, who requested fans to not share such footage as it negatively impacts the process of filmmaking.
Taking to social media on Wednesday, Kanagaraj said months of hard work put in by him and his team got discarded because of the leaked footage that shows Nagarjuna’s character brutally attacking a man with a hammer.
“Two months of hard work by many people have gone in vain because of one recording. I humbly request everyone not to engage in such practices, as they spoil the overall experience. Thank you,” he wrote on X.
Coolie, led by superstar Rajinikanth, is one of the most-anticipated Tamil films of 2025. The film’s cast also includes Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Soubin Shahir in key roles.
The character posters for the cast of Coolie were unveiled by the makers last month. Rajinikanth is set to play Deva, who is seen holding a coolie’s identification tag with the number 1421 in the poster.
Shruti Haasan plays Preethi in Coolie. Her character poster reveals her holding a shovel. Nagarjuna’s Simon is seen sporting a red scarf in his poster.
Sathyaraj plays Rajasekhar, with his poster showing a red wire coiled around his hand. Upendra’s character, Kaleesha, holds a fish hook as his accessory. Meanwhile, Soubin Shahir’s Daya is depicted holding a gold watch in his poster.
Coolie is Kanagaraj’s seventh directorial project. Since establishing the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) in 2019 with Kaithi, Kanagaraj has expanded the universe with Vikram (2022) and Leo (2023). Whether Coolie will also join the LCU remains to be seen.
