Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has launched his own film production banner — G Squad — to encourage and promote the creative ideas of his close friends and assistant directors, the Leo director revealed in a social media post on Monday.
Expressing his delight at the prospect of expanding his creative horizons, Lokesh made the announcement via a statement posted on X. “After directing 5 films, I am delighted to announce the launch of my production venture - G Squad, dedicated towards redefining the landscape of storytelling and entertainment,” the statement read.
The filmmaker also mentioned that the initial projects under the G Squad banner would be helmed by his close friends and assistant directors. “I sincerely wish that you all watch, enjoy, and shower the same support that you all have given me so far,” he added.
The G Squad logo, released alongside the statement on social media, features a scorpion, a recurring motif in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The name G Squad also resonates with fans, evoking memories of the Black Squad team in the director’s well-known actioner Vikram.
Lokesh, whose recent blockbuster Leo starring Vijay, has been enjoying widespread acclaim for his contribution to the Tamil film industry. For his next project, the director is teaming up with Rajinikanth for Thalaivar 171.
