Japanese singer-songwriter Lisa has teamed up with K-pop boy band Stray Kids member Felix for the opening song of anime series Solo Leveling Season 2, Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday with a teaser.
Attack on Titan music composer Hiroyuki Sawano will be supervising the track titled RewakeR.
“LiSA, Felix from STRAY KIDS, and Hiroyuki Sawano team up for the Solo Leveling Season 2 Opening, RawakeR! Solo Leveling Season 2 is coming to Crunchyroll January 2025! Watch Solo Leveling on Crunchyroll,” the anime streaming platform wrote alongside the video on YouTube.
The teaser features vocals by Lisa, who is known for singing the hit opening song Gurenge for anime Demon Slayer. It introduces Felix as featured artist alongside Lisa in the song composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.
Barca, the formidable boss of the Red Gate Dungeon, who will be the antagonist in the second season, appears in the video. It features new characters from the upcoming instalment for a brief moment before showing memorable scenes from the first season.
ReawakeR, Lisa’s 23rd single, will be available for sale in Japan from March 5, 2025. Solo Leveling Season 2 is set to premiere in January 2025. Ahead of its premiere, a sneak peek of the first two episodes will feature in the Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- anime movie, which is slated to hit theatres in India on December 6.
In a video on YouTube, Lisa explained the meaning behind the song and heaped praise on Felix and Sawano. “It is a song about the determination to fulfil the destiny given to those who have been reborn,” she said, highlighting the song’s themes of personal growth, self-confidence, inner strength and resilience.
Felix, too, expressed his excitement about being a part of the highly-anticipated anime series alongside Lisa. He mentioned that the song “gives you a dopamine boost when you listen to it.” Signing off, the Deep End singer added, “I hope everyone who is looking forward to the anime Solo Leveling and the theme song ReawakeR will give it lots of love.”
Solo Leveling is adapted from Chugong's bestselling Korean web novel of the same name. In 2018, Chugong adapted the novel into a webtoon and manhwa with illustrations by DUBU.
Solo Leveling is animated by A-1 Pictures, with motion graphics by Production I.G, known for their work on Attack on Titan and Psycho Pass. The series is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige.
