Stitch, the little blue alien dog engineered for destruction, stomps around a beach, knocking down sandcastles in the new teaser for Dean Fleischer Camp’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, Lilo & Stitch, slated to hit theatres on May 23, 2025.
Dropped on Monday, the 32-second-long video opens with a sandcastle standing against the backdrop of a sparkling blue ocean. However, the beautiful setting is destroyed as Stitch storms in, smashing the sand structures.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, Lilo & Stitch is based on the eponymous 2002 animated film written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. The narrative follows the relationship between a lonely girl named Lilo and a blue dog, Stitch. Stitch is, in reality, a genetically engineered extraterrestrial being with a destructive purpose.
Newcomer Maia Kealoha plays Lilo in the upcoming live-action film. The cast also includes Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Hannah Waddingham.
Following the success of the 2002 animated film, Lilo & Stitch, a direct-to-video sequel titled Stitch! The Movie was released in 2003. It also served as a pilot for the TV series Lilo & Stitch: The Series. A sequel titled Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch was released in 2005, and another sequel titled Leroy & Stitch premiered in 2006.
