Kate Winslet’s American photojournalist Lee Miller is determined to expose the horrors of the Nazi regime, in spite of the odds against her as a female correspondent in a man’s world, in the trailer of acclaimed cinematographer Ellen Kuras’ debut directorial Lee.
Dropped by the makers on Monday, the two-minute-20-second-long trailer begins with Winslet’s Miller approaching a colonel of the American troop to tell him that she will document the war that is going to take place sooner or later. Subsequent scenes show her visiting Vogue Magazine’s office for a job interview and impressing everyone with her skills.
However, when World War II breaks out, Millar is repeatedly denied permission to cover the war. Without giving up, however, she teams up with Andy Sandberg’s Life Magazine photographer David E. Scherman to sneak into war-ridden Europe to expose the horrors inflicted by Nazis through her photographs.
Based on the life of the American photojournalist of the same name, Lee is produced by Kate Solomon and Kate Winslet, along with Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, Marie Savare and Lauren Hantz. It also stars Alexander Skarsgård as Roland Penrose, Marion Cotillard as Solange D’Ayen, Josh O’Connor as Tony and Andrea Riseborough as Audrey Withers.
Lee is slated to premiere in UK and Irish cinemas on 13 September.
