Director Rajkumar Santoshi has opened up about the onscreen reunion of Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta for his upcoming period drama Lahore 1947, mentioning that the film’s script demands a pair as “accurate” as the two actors.
Santoshi, who has collaborated with Sunny in several films like Ghayal (1990), Ghatak (1996) and Damini (1993), believes that Preity is playing a “very important role” after a long time.
“She is indeed an extremely talented, finest, and most natural actress in our industry. Whichever character she plays she totally invests herself in it and makes the audience feel that she is made for that character,” the 67-year-old filmmaker said in a statement, heaping praise on Preity for her acting prowess.
Preity and Sunny have worked together on films like Dillagi (1999), The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003), Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke (2001), Farz (2001) and Heroes (2008).
Regarding their reunion on the big screen after years, the veteran director said, “Interestingly, the audience will see her again with Sunny Deol. This on-screen pair has always been immensely loved by the audience.”
“Above all, this film's script demands a pair that is as accurate as Sunny and Preity,” Santoshi lauded the actors for the accuracy in their work.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the shooting for Lahore 1947 began on Monday.
