Singers Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s first joint project, a love ballad titled Die With A Smile, was dropped on YouTube with a music video featuring the duo on Friday.

The four-minute-12-second-long music video captures Gaga and Mars performing on stage with a guitar and piano.

The retro-themed clip features the duo in matching light blue-and-red ensembles. Gaga sports bright red tights and her hair is styled in a Dolly Parton-inspired updo, while Mars dons a white cowboy hat and strums an electric guitar in a vintage suit. Meanwhile, Gaga plays the piano with a cigarette clenched between her teeth.

The soulful lyrics of the song read: "Nobody’s promised tomorrow / So imma love you every night like it's the last night... If the world was ending I'd wanna be next to you / if the party was over and our time on earth (was through) / I'd wanna hold you just for a while / And die with a smile."

A day before the release, Gaga shared a poster of the music video on Instagram with the caption, "While you wait till lg7… ‘Die with A Smile’, a duet with @brunomars. Song and video tonight at 9pm PT."

Mars re-shared the poster, teasing the release of the music video.

Earlier this year, Gaga had expressed her excitement about her new projects in a birthday post. “Today has been so special—I can’t remember a time I was so happy on my b’day...I am writing some of my best music in as long as I can remember our movie Joker 2: Folie à Deux is coming out soon Thank you thank you thank you for loving me the way you do and for having such a real love for my songs—I’ve been writing pop songs since I was a little girl. I can’t believe I still get to do what I love. This year will be an important and meaningful year for us I know. Music changes people lives. I'm so honored I get to be a part of that in this life,” read the singer-songwriter's caption on Instagram.

Die With A Smile marks the first new music released by both artistes in years. Gaga last released a solo album with Chromatica in 2020. Her second collaborative album with Tony Bennett, Love for Sale, came out in 2021 and her Top Gun: Maverick hit Hold My Hand was released in 2022. Mars’s most recent solo work was in 2016, while his Silk Sonic project with Anderson Paak earned him two Grammys in 2022.

Gaga has been concentrating on her film career in the last few years, starring in 2021’s House of Gucci and filming Joker: Folie à Deux alongside Joaquin Phoenix. The sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 anti-hero blockbuster from Warner Bros. and DC is slated to hit theatres on October 4.
