The makers of Kiran Rao-directed Laapataa Ladies are set to host a special screening of the film for the cast and crew of The Viral Fever’s (TVF’s) Panchayat.
Comparing the popular Prime Video show with Laapataa Ladies, the makers said both the series and the upcoming film deal with situations that arise in rural parts of India. They went on to say that Panchayat narrates the story from the heartlands of India and it introduces the audience to a true story that had a wider acceptance.
Almost a month back, the makers shared a trailer, giving a preview of the film’s storyline that revolves around two new brides who go missing.
Three songs from the films have also been released ahead of the premiere. While DoubtWa by Sukhwinder Singh and Sajni sung by Arijit Singh were released earlier this month, Sona Mohapatra-sung Beda Paar was released on Wednesday.
Both the Prime Video show and the upcoming Aamir Khan Productions film were shot in the Mahodiya village in the Sehore District of Madhya Pradesh.
Panchayat is set to return for Season 3 on Prime Video. However the exact date of the show’s return has not been confirmed yet.
Presented by Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies is set for a theatrical release on March 1.
