The one-minute-29-second-long video, titled Kareena Kapoor as Rupa D'Souza, captures the Jaane Jaan actress’ moments before shooting scenes and her effortless transformation into Rupa, Laal's (Aamir Khan) love interest in the film.

“Woh bilkul Rupa ban gayi (she totally became Rupa),” Kiran Rao said after a scene where Laal runs through a green field towards Rupa. “It’s not like we coordinated it… She just said ‘Arrey Laal?’ and everyone started clapping,” said director Advait about Kareena’s performance in the scene where Laal returns home after a long time and surprises her.

The clip also shows Rupa overwhelmed with emotions in a scene where she hits Laal. Before the shooting, Kareena was asked to go through a rehearsal for the scene. However, the actress was confident about going through the scene without any prior practise. She said, “Ha toh main ready hu (Yes, I’m ready).”

“I don't think anybody else could have built this character with as much empathy and honesty as Kareena,” said Advait after a scene where the actress cries her heart out in Laal’s arms.

Laal Singh Chaddha is an Indian adaptation of the 1994 film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. It follows the story of Laal who shares the early chapters of his life with a fellow traveler aboard a train. His sole desire at present is to reconnect with his first love from childhood, Rupa.

Kareena recently starred in Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller Jaane Jaan which released on Netflix on Thursday.
