While Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s Kushi happens to be one of the most-awaited films to hit the theatres this Friday, Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer 3 isn’t far behind in terms of anticipation. Apart from these two, a family drama, an animated superhero film, a political thriller and a sports drama are other releases of the week. Here’s a look.

Kushi (Telugu, Hindi)

Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sachin Khedekar, Murali Sharma, Jayaram and Vennela Kishore

Viplav, a young man from an atheist household, falls in love with religiously-minded Aradhya, who is also the daughter of his father’s arch-rival. The couple decide to tie the knot despite stiff opposition from their families. The rest of the film explores how Viplav and Aradhya try to overcome their problems with love.

The Equalizer 3 (English)

Cast: Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, David Denman, Sonia Ammar, and Remo Girone

Denzel Washington returns as Robert McCall in The Equalizer 3 — the final instalment in the Equalizer trilogy. Now living in southern Italy, Robert finds solace in helping those who are in need. When the former US marine discovers that his new friends are being exploited by the mafia, he takes it upon himself to protect them. Dakota Fanning, David Denman, Sonia Ammar and Remo Girone play key roles in this actioner.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (English)

Cast: Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, Ayo Edebiri, Jackie Chan and Ice Cube

Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.), Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu), Raphael (Brady Noon) and Donatello (Micah Abbey) are four mutant turtle brothers known as The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They live with their adoptive rat father, Splinter (Jackie Chan), in the sewers of New York City and train in the art of ninjutsu. They meet a teenager named April O'Neil (Ayo Edebiri) during an encounter with a gang of criminals. They join hands to take on a mutant criminal — Superfly (Ice Cube), who plans to mutate every animal on earth.

Golda (English)

Cast: Helen Mirren, Camille Cottin and Liev Schreiber

Golda is a political thriller set during the 19-day Yom Kippur War of 1973. It tells the story of Israeli prime minister Golda Meir (Helen Mirren), who had to overcome many challenges, including a sceptical cabinet and a complex relationship with US secretary of State Henry Kissinger, to safeguard the interests of her nation. The war caught Israel by surprise and put the country in danger of being wiped out. Meir showed tough leadership and compassion, and her decisions ultimately decided the fate of Israel.

Kirtan (Bengali)

Directed by: Abhimanyu Mukherjee

Cast: Arunima Ghosh, Gourab Chatterjee, Paran Bandyopadhyay

Gourab Chatterjee plays a middle-class Bengali who lives with his aged father (Paran Bandyopadhyay) and wife (Arunima Ghosh). Paran, who couldn’t let go of his East Bengal roots, is at loggerheads with his Ghoti daughter-in-law. It doesn’t help that the latter wants to sell off their ancestral house and move to a new flat. Caught between the crosshairs, Gourab’s character seeks respite from the constant bickering at home.

Love All (Hindi)

Directed by: Sudhanshu Sharma

Cast: Kay Kay Menon, Sumit Arora, Swastika Mukherjee and Shriswara

Love All is an emotional sports drama revolving around the game of badminton. Siddharth (Kay Kay Menon), a promising badminton player, is forced to give up his dreams due to an injury and financial constraints. He becomes bitter and forbids his son (Sumit Arora) from pursuing the latter’s dreams of becoming a sportsperson. However, Siddharth eventually returns to the sport and has a chance to redeem himself.
