Matrix Fight Night (MFN) co-founder Krishna Shroff feels that she and her mother Ayesha Shroff were not taken seriously when they co-founded what is touted as India’s first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) platform, but the duo rose to the challenge to establish themselves in a male-dominated industry.

“I don’t think anyone took us seriously. But my mom and I always welcome a challenge with open arms and we are just powerhouses of human beings. We are such alphas, so even though we are involved in such a male-dominated industry, we welcome that challenge and do it to the best of our capabilities,” Krishna said on the MFN podcast hosted by Salil Acharya.

Krishna founded MFN along with her actor brother Tiger Shroff and Ayesha in 2019 to promote MMA in India. The mother-daughter duo have been involved in promoting the event and organising fight nights since they launched the project.

Even though the 30-year-old comes from a family of stars like her father Jackie Shroff and brother Tiger, she doesn’t believe in adding Bollywood star power to her brainchild as she wants the fighters of the MMA tournament to emerge as the true stars of the event and enjoy all the limelight for the hard work they put in.

Referring to another sporting event without naming it, she said, “They were so focused on the Bollywood angle of it, you know, bringing these Bollywood stars to their shows and taking away from the fighters. At the end of the day, the fighters are the stars. So we were very aware of that from the very beginning. They are the absolute main part of the promotion and it wouldn't run without them.”

Owned by Tiger Shroff, Krishna Shroff and Ayesha Shroff, MFN is an MMA platform with 11 successful fight night editions till date. Both Tiger and Krishna are boxing enthusiasts.
