Jihyo, the lead vocalist of K-pop girl group TWICE, has released her debut solo album Zone comprising seven songs including two collaborations — one with American rapper 24kGoldn and the other with South Korean singer-rapper Heize.
The album’s title track Killin’ Me Good, written and sung by Jihyo, has garnered over 5 million views in less than 24 hours since it dropped on YouTube on Friday.
The 26-year-old, who started working on her solo album a year ago, has experimented with genres like R&B and rap, making for a diverse, vibrant and energetic album. Jihyo, who penned six of the seven songs in her album, collaborated with 24kGoldn for the track Talkin’ About It and with Heize for the song Don't Wanna Go Back.
The K-pop band TWICE debuted in 2017 with the album Twicetagram. As a member of TWICE, Jihyo was known for her powerful and high-pitched voice. However, in her solo album, she has opted for low notes.
TWICE, formed by the Korean record label JYP Entertainment, has nine members — Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu. Jihyo is the group's second member to go solo. Band member Nayeon unveiled her eponymous debut album Im Nayeon in June 2022.
