Ever since Lust Stories 2 has started streaming on Netflix, there’s constant chatter online on whether the immensely talented Konkona Sensharma who had debuted as a director with A Death in the Gunj is a better actor or a better director, and why she must give us more films from behind the camera. Konkona’s short film The Mirror — where she explores desire from two women’s perspectives — is being lauded as the best of the four-film anthology Lust Stories 2. Here are snapshots posted by Konkona and her two female leads Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash on Instagram following the film’s success.

Director Konkona Sensharma explains a scene to Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash. ‘I am lucky to be a part of Konkona’s film, The Mirror, with the most incredible crew and wonderful co-actors. Each member of this team was not just good at their craft but shared Konkona’s gaze and sensitivity. The set was safe as safe can be,’ shared Tillotama.

Tillotama Shome gives us a glimpse of what happened after the Lust Stories 2 premiere party wrapped up. ‘How the night yesterday ended. (Will share how it began later) I had my glasses on, so I first took my shoes off and then my friends,’ she wrote on Instagram, posting a snap with co-actor Amruta Subhash.

Tillotama Shome shared a light moment from the sets with Marathi actor Shrikant Yadav, Amruta Subhash and Konkona. Calling him ‘an incredible actor and human’, Tillotama wrote, ‘Cheers to @yadavshrikant, the man who did not have a say. And yet said so much.’

Konkona is all smiles in front of the monitor on the sets of The Mirror. Her friends Richa Chadha, Divya Dutta, Ayushmann Khurana, Tabu, Sayani Gupta and others flooded her with compliments in the comments section.

Amruta Subhash posted a few fun pictures with Konkona along with a warm note. ‘Thank you for the love, Koko. Thank you for some of the best days of my life. I have always loved your talent from a distance. Seema (Amruta’s character in The Mirror) gave me an opportunity to come closer to you not only as a director but as a person. While others are debating whether you are a better actor or a director, I think you are both and much, much more than that. That is rare Koko. After all these years in the industry, I have seen many successful people but very few gave that ‘more’ than l am talking about… how do I put that ‘more’ in words…. Thanks for your unconditional love, and your large heart. I know very few people in the Hindi industry. Even before #LustStories2 came out, I have seen you at some parties going out of your way and introducing me to some amazing people with so much affection in these parties, sometimes there comes a time when you are alone and lost, those times, you have appeared from nowhere and asked me, ‘Amruta, are you okay? You want something… come let’s dance!’ The dance has begun Koko…yes…let’s dance!’

To this, an emotional Konkona replied: ‘Thanks for making me cry in the morning. I’m so blown away by you, yaar. Such an accomplished actress you are! How do you understand me before I’ve even finished speaking? What is this golden temperament? Thank you for your love and generosity and for always making things easy on set. I’m spoiled for life. Love you.’

Amruta Subhash shifted the spotlight to Shrikant Yadav, who played her husband in The Mirror, in one of her posts. ‘He is a fantastic actor; you must have seen him in #Jalsa as a cop or also in #FamilyMan. He has played my colleague’s role in Marathi film #Killa. Apart from being a superb actor, he is a great human being. Let me take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards him for his kindness and support throughout the #LustStories2 shoot. He is such a pure and gentle soul… just like Seema’s husband Kamal in the film. We have been lucky to have him as Kamal.’ To this, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap wrote, ‘He is also in Kennedy.’ Konkona approved, ‘Oof! I can’t imagine any other actor holding his own (and how!) with you and Tilly!’
