The return of Kapoor-clan members to Koffee with Karan brought back a bit of life to what has so far been a mundane season for the controversy-stirring celebrity talk show. Episode 6 of Season 7 of the show hosted by Karan Johar coincided with Raksha Bandhan, and it welcomed the cousin duo of Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Arjun Kapoor on the couch.

Despite not being her catty self, the heavily pregnant Sonam was delightful with her misfires, seated next to her cousin who was more chatty than her. Here’s what made this a refreshingly light episode.

Sonam is out of touch with the industry and also forgetful

Basking in her pregnancy glow, the usually sharp-tongued Sonam said things which showed she has been out of touch with the industry, which actually made this episode a more fun watch than the previous ones.

For instance, Sonam thought stars like Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon were still underrated, and that the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt film is called “Shiva No 1” (instead of Brahmastra: Part One).

About the Indian contingent at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where she used to be a regular on the red carpet, Sonam said she remembered seeing Deepika Padukone on the red carpet and also Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, after wracking her brains.

Sonam’s forgetfulness inspired Arjun to dub her “Ghajini Kapoor”, and some more vague answers from the mom-to-be during the rapid-fire round left us with some funny moments.

Cousin camaraderie

We got to see a heartwarming side of the two celebrities as they shared their brother-sister dynamics.

Sonam claimed she was kept in the dark about Arjun’s relationship with Malaika Arora till they made it public. She was supportive of Arjun back then and pointed out that she would support her loved ones, no matter what, as long as they were happy.

This, however, did not mean Sonam wouldn’t troll her younger first cousin. She called Arjun’s recent film Ek Villain Returns a “thirst trap” movie with nothing but attractive stars. She revealed that all her brothers had slept with her friends. She also recalled taking Arjun along to McDonald’s and leaving him with a couple of burgers while she rendezvoused with her date.

Arjun had his own story about their childhood to share. He remembered the time when Sonam came to him to complain about a senior boy who had bullied her off the basketball court. The protective brother went to confront the boy only to return with a black eye, apart from being suspended for using expletives during the scuffle.

Arjun talks about his physical transformation

The Gunday actor was open about having let his career slide, and confessed that he could not maintain the standard he had set with his first few films. He added that Malaika had been a positive influence in his life, helping him focus on regaining his fitness. Arjun underlined that he was still passionate about his career and took acting seriously.
