Episode 4 of Koffee with Karan Season 7 was perhaps one of the most blah celebrity conversations over the seven seasons since 2004.

Both Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday had their guard up most of the time, which did the opposite of livening up the evening. Here’s why.

Lack of chemistry between the Liger couple

One of the objectives of Deverakonda and Ananya coming on the show was to promote their movie Liger which is set to premiere on August 25. The vibe that is there in the video of the Akdi Pakdi song from Liger was definitely missing on the show. And the fact that they didn’t have any spark on the KwK couch leaves us wondering what it’s going to be like in the rest of the film.

While Ananya kept trying to flirt with Deverakonda, it was evident that she was not really interested in him. Deverakonda’s responses to his co-star's advances were equally blah.

When Ananya asked why Deverakonda did not hit on her during the shoot of Liger, he said it’s because she was committed at the time. She continued to point out that she was single now, to which he stoically responded “Noted”.

To top it all, in the rapid-fire round, Deverakonda called Ananya “juvenile”.

Deverakonda addresses Arjun Reddy controversies

Karan Johar brought up the controversies that followed Arjun Reddy as it appeared to support toxic relationships. Vijay said while he could see where the character was coming from, he would never in real life be like Arjun Reddy and if he felt such strong negative emotions in a relationship, he would rather walk out of it.

Ananya said she would never encourage anyone to be in the kind of relationship that was shown in the film.

Ananya on crushes and exes

While Koffee with Karan has turned out to be a favourite spot for actors to take potshots at their exes, Ananya didn’t go that route. She said she is still in touch with her exes, which includes her Khaali Peeli co-star Ishaan Khatter. And in the ‘Hey Karan it’s me!’ round where guests have to call their celebrity contacts, Ananya rang another ex, Kartik Aaryan, who did pick up the call.

Who does the ‘Cheese’ like?

Deverakonda looked clueless when Karan referred to Sara Ali Khan calling him ‘Cheese’ in Episode 2. He said he would let the world know when he was ready to marry any woman. Until then, he would not be broadcasting his romantic relationships.

And who does he find to be the most desirable woman in the Indian film industry? “Samantha Ruth Prabhu,” he replied.

When Karan quizzed about his rumoured relationship with his Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade co-star Rashmika Mandanna, he said, “She is a darling and I am really fond of her... We share so much through films, lots of highs and lows.”
