Actress Koel Mallick will return as Durga in Star Jalsha’s Ranong Dehi, the TV channel announced on Wednesday, sharing a teaser of its Mahalaya programme this year.
Koel had portrayed the goddess in Star Jalsha’s Mahalaya programme titled Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu last year. She was first seen as Durga on screen in Color Bangla’s programme in 2011.
Sandipta Sen and Madhumita Sarcar will also play different forms of the goddess in Ranong Dehi, scheduled to be aired on October 2 on the occasion of Mahalaya, which marks the beginning of Devi Paksha.
Koel exudes elegance in her Mahishasurmardini avatar in the teaser dropped by Star Jalsha. She is seen in a red benarasi sari, gold ornaments and a trinayan on her forehead.
Koel was last seen in Arindam Sil-helmed detective movie Jongole Mitin Mashi based on Suchitra Bhattacharya’s novel Saranday Shoytan. She will be soon seen in the next film in the Mitin franchise, Ekti Khunir Sandhane Mitin, slated for release on October 3.
