After a 56-day theatrical run, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies has arrived on OTT. The comedy drama bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions is now streaming on Netflix.
“TAAZA KHABAR : Laapataa Ladies mil chuki hai! #LaapataaLadies, starts streaming at midnight, on Netflix,” the official handle of the streaming platform wrote on X on Thursday.
Set in 2001, Laapataa Ladies revolves around two brides who inadvertently become separated from their husbands on a train, and end up at wrong addresses in two different villages. What follows is a comedy of errors as the groom’s family begins a search for the right bride.
The cast of Laapataa Ladies includes Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastava, with Ravi Kishan in the key role of a corrupt policeman. Released in theatres on March 1, the film minted Rs 23.6 crore gross worldwide, according to industry-tracking website Sacnilk.
Laapataa Ladies is Kiran’s second directorial venture after her debut film Dhobi Ghat (2010), starring Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar, Kriti Malhotra and Monica Dogra.
