Dulquer Salmaan’s footballer-turned-gangster unleashes a reign of terror on his enemies after suffering a terrible personal loss in the action-packed trailer of the Malayalam-language period gangster film King of Kotha.

Dropped by Zee Studios on Thursday, the two-minute-34-second-long trailer was released by Shah Rukh Khan, Mohanlal, Suriya and Nagarjuna. It begins with a shot that combines people watching footballer Diego Maradona’s exploits in the 1986 FIFA World Cup on television and Dulquer’s Raju playing in a local tournament. A voiceover explains Raju’s dream of becoming a notorious gangster like his father. The clip shows Raju as the favourite footballer of Kotha and a straightforward guy. Then it shows some violent characters and an illegal business thriving in the area before launching the first glimpse of the bloody action.

The clip then goes on to show Raju’s love interest and hints at a terrible personal loss which pushes him to a path of self-destruction. However, to save Kotha and its people, Raju rises from the ashes and becomes an agent of chaos. With plenty of gore splashes, we see Dulquer Salmaan executing his rivals all around the fictional town of Kotha.
