August comes with a diverse lineup for anime fans, offering a refreshing change from a handful of Isekai shows released in July. From a budding romance in Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 to the time-bending action of Terminator Zero, here’s a look at six highly-anticipated sequels and new anime series you mustn’t miss this month.

From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke Season 3

In the last instalment of the romance anime, Sawako and Kazehaya embarked on a romantic journey. The third season will show how the lovers deal with awkwardness in the initial phase of their relationship and eventually come to understand the nuances of love and friendship. It will show the new couple on their first date and their school life together as they explore the true meaning of being in a relationship.

Rising Impact Season 2

Created by The Seven Deadly Sins writer Nakaba Suzuki, Rising Impact follows the story of third-grader Nanaumi Gawain who dreams of becoming the best baseball hitter in the world. After hitting the ball over 300 yards on his first play, Gawain wants to pursue a career in the sport. Pleased with his enthusiasm, Nishino helps him enrol in a school for junior golfers in Tokyo. Now, Gawain must compete against rival players from all over the world.

Terminator Zero

Created by Production IG and directed by Masashi Kudo, Terminator Zero is the first-ever animated adaptation of the sci-fi movie franchise. It revolves around a futuristic war that rages between human survivors and machines in the year 2022. A soldier is sent back to 1997 to protect scientist Malcolm Lee, who is devising ways to counter Skynet, an invention that has gained self-awareness and declared war against humanity. But a relentless future assassin targets the scientist, altering his children’s destinies forever.

Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest

This Fairy Tail sequel promises to be a true delight for those who grew up watching the original show. The original anime series, which started airing in 2009, follows celestial wizard Lucy Heartfilia, who joins the titular guild known for its legendary wizards. After teaming up with dragon slayer Natsu Dragneel and other guild members, Lucy embarks on thrilling adventures to combat dark entities and unravel the secrets of the world. New episodes of Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest, which was released in July, will drop this month on Netflix. It will continue to show Natsu and his team going on a mission that has been unaccomplished for over a century.

Delico’s Nursery

In this gothic anime, Dali Delico, an aristocrat from the prestigious Delico family, refuses to carry out a dangerous mission, causing a conflict between his family and the vampire society. While mysterious murders targeting vampires occur on the streets, Dali finds himself preoccupied with caring for a child as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, involved in childcare and questioning his status in society.

Kengan Ashura Season 2, Part 2

The martial arts anime revolves around Ohma Tokita who enters a hidden world in which corporate disputes are settled with brutal gladiator fights. However, Tokita doesn’t have his eye on prize money; he only wants to fight and win. The first part of the second season focused on other competitors and why they want to battle it out in the gladiator arena. Part 2 will show the Kengan Annihilation Tournament coming to its electrifying end. As the Ohma and other fighters battle for the top spot in the underground tournament, a mysterious figure orchestrates a violent coup as the fate of the matches and its participants hangs in the balance.
