The fifth episode of Dune: Prophecy, HBO’s prequel series to Denis Villeneuve’s iconic sci-fi film franchise, marked the debut of Indian actress Tabu as the enigmatic Sister Francesca. The episode aired in India on December 16.
Tabu recently unveiled her striking appearance in the series by sharing a still on Instagram. Dressed in an intricate all-black ensemble complete with a veil, the actress perfectly embodies the grandeur and gravitas of the Dune universe. The image shows her surrounded by mysterious figures, exuding an aura of calm authority and concealed power.
The official handle of the series also shared a teaser of Tabu’s entry into the Dune-verse. “All eyes turn to Francesca. A new episode of the HBO Original Series #DuneProphecy is streaming TONIGHT at 9PM ET on @StreamOnMax,” they wrote in the caption.
Set 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert’s 1965 classic Dune, Dune: Prophecy delves into the origins of Bene Gesserit, the powerful all-female order known for their political, religious, and psychic influence.
The series follows sisters Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) as they establish the matriarchal group to protect their world from looming threats.
The six-episode series features a star-studded cast that includes Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Jihae.
