Three friends —Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi), Ahana (Ananya Panday) and Neil (Adarsh Gourav) — navigate modern-day dating and the pressure of maintaining an image on social media in the trailer of Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s coming-of-digital-age drama Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

Dropped by Netflix on Sunday, the two-minute-40-second-long video depicts how these three friends stand by each other as they struggle to balance their online presence with their true selves after being influenced by lavish lives led by others on social media. Exploring the complexities of young adult life, the trailer then shows the twenty-something friends embark on a quest for authenticity amid the dark side of the virtual world.

The trailer begins with Siddhant’s stand-up comedian calling out influencers for only sharing the best moments of their life on social media. Siddhant’s voiceover is accompanied by scenes of the trio enjoying their time together on beaches and clubs. “I don’t want to know what you did all day on social media. I have better things to do,” he says, before closing his stand-up gig with a joke that he would rather know what actress Malaika Arora wore to the gym.

As Imaad, Ahana and Neil deal with relationship, emotional baggage and heartbreaks, they try to live life to the fullest with a carefree approach. However, social media addiction among the people they meet makes it difficult for the trio to stay away from the virtual world.

The trailer also shows glimpses of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actress Kalki Koechlin.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan marks the directorial debut of Arjun Varain Singh, who co-wrote the script with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, the film will be streaming on Netflix from December 26.
