Directed by Soojit Dutta, Khadaan will hit cinemas on December 20.

The one-minute-18-second long teaser opens with a blast at a coal mine, followed by a heroic entry by Dev’s character, who wreaks havoc with an axe in his hand, and a cigarette held between his lips.

“The biggest Bengali film is arriving in cinemas this Christmas. An epic journey of friendship begins. Get ready to dive deep into the world of ‘Khadaan’ where power, greed, and vengeance collide,” Dev wrote on X alongside the teaser.

Produced by Dev Entertainment Ventures and presented by Surinder Films, Khadaan will mark Dev’s return to the action genre after a series of family dramas. Joining Dev as the female lead of this coal-mine saga will be television actress Idhika Pal. Additionally, the film will feature Jisshu Sengupta as Dev’s friend-turned-foe.

While Khadaan hits cinemas during Christmas this year, Dev-starrer Tekka will be releasing in theatres during Durga Puja. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film also features Rukmini Maitra and Swastika Mukherjee.

On Wednesday, Dev had shared a video on social media where Srijit showered praises on the teaser for Khadaan. “If we wish to bring back the old flavour of Bengali mainstream action movies, it would be through films like Khadaan. I am definitely watching it on the first day, first show,” the filmmaker says.

Dev’s last release was Avijit Sen’s Pradhan, which arrived in theatres in December 2023.
