From film mahurats to poster reveals, Tollywood stars used the occasion of Saraswati Puja, which coincided with Valentine’s Day this year, to share updates about their upcoming projects. Take a look.
Mahurat of Khadaan
Riding high on the success of his 2023 Christmas release Pradhan, Dev had announced two of his upcoming ventures last month — Srijit Mukherji’s Tekka, where he would reunite with Rukmini Maitra on screen, and Khadaan.
While Dev has completed shooting for Tekka, the production of Khadaan began on Wednesday with the mahurat. The actor-producer shared photos from the event where he was seen posing in front of a Saraswati idol with the clipboard of the film in a blue kurta.
Khadaan will mark Dev’s return to the action genre after a series of family dramas. Joining Dev as the female lead of this coal-mine saga will be television actress Idhika Pal. Additionally, the film will feature Jisshu Sengupta in a pivotal role.
Abir and Mimi to reunite for Alaap
Surinder Films has revealed the first poster of their upcoming film Alaap. Directed by Premendu Bikash Chaki, the film’s poster depicts the names of the cast and crew pasted on a fridge in the form of sticky notes. Featuring Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty, Swastika Dutta, Tanvi Laha Ray and Kinjal Nanda in prominent roles, Alaap is expected to bring a unique musical narrative to the screen.
Abir and Mimi had shared the screen space for the first time in Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy’s Raktabeej in 2023. Their chemistry as law enforcement officers racing against time to foil a terrorist attack won the hearts of the audience.
The first song of Oti Uttam
Srijit Mukherji released the first song from his upcoming romantic comedy Uttam Kumar on Wednesday on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Titled Saiyaan Beimaan, the romantic track has been sung by Monali Thakur. The song has been composed by Saptak Sanai Das and penned by Chakraborty, who had collaborated with Srijit Mukherji on the film X=Prem.
Sharing the song on social media, Srijit Mukherji wrote, “A song of love on the day of love.” The video, featuring Anindya Sengupta and Roshni Bhattacharya, captures elements of love, heartbreak, distance in relationships and the city of Kolkata.
Manasi Sinha’s directorial debut
Veteran television and film actress Manasi Sinha is all set to don the director’s hat for romantic drama Eta Amader Golpo. The film’s poster, which features the hand of a man gifting flowers to the hand of a woman., was shared by the makers on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
Eta Amader Golpo stars Saswata Chatterjee, Aparajita Adhya, Koneenica Banerjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Sohag Sen, Debdut Ghosh and Amitkanti Ghosh in prominent roles.
