Jaskaran Singh from Punjab has become the first contestant to win Rs 1 crore in the 15th season of the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, airing on Sony Entertainment Television from Monday to Friday.
The 21-year-old, who hails from a nondescript village in Punjab, will now attempt the final Rs 7 crore question in the upcoming episode of the show, to air on September 5. Jaskaran will become the first-ever contestant to win Rs 7 crore on the show if he manages to correctly answer the question.
The official Instagram account of KBC unveiled a fresh promo on Thursday with the caption: “Paar kar har mushkil Punjab ke chhote se gaon Khalra se aaye Jaskaran pahunch chuke hain iss khel ke sabse bade ₹7 crore ke sawaal par! Dekhiye #KaunBanegaCrorepati, 4th & 5th Sept, Somvaar-Mangalvaar raat 9 baje, sirf #SonyEntertainmentTelevision par.”
The channel also shared a promo in which host Amitabh Bachchan reflects on the show's history since its inception in 2000, acknowledging numerous crorepati contestants. In this video, Jaskaran sighs nervously and downs a glass of water as he answers the 16th question.
The episodes featuring Jaskaran, who is currently preparing for the UPSC entrance exam, will air on Sony Entertainment Television at 9 pm on September 4 and 5.
KBC is the Hindi adaptation of the immensely popular British quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Bachchan has been the show's host since its first season in 2000, except for the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan.
