In Chandu Champion, Kartik takes us through the real-life story of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, who joined the Indian army to hone his skills in a bid to represent India at the Olympics.

Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the sports biopic hit theatres on June 14. The film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma and Rajpal Yadav.

Despite earning positive reviews, Chandu Champion couldn't perform well at the box office. The movie managed to gross Rs 74.35 crore in India and Rs 13.79 crore overseas, taking its worldwide collection to Rs 88.14 crore.

Recently, Kartik wrapped up shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, a horror comedy also starring Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the actor is set to reprise his role as Rooh Baba in the film.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) commenced on August 15 in Melbourne and will conclude on August 25.
