Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion is now the top trending title worldwide on Prime Video, the actor said on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the audience for the love they have showered on the sports biopic on India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar.
“Overwhelmed and deeply touched by the incredible love and respect you continue to show for #ChanduChampion. It’s truly heartwarming to see the passion and admiration for this film spreading now on OTT worldwide,” Kartik wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a poster of the film.
The 33-year-old actor also paid tribute to Petkar in his note. “The awe-inspiring journey of Mr. Murlikant Petkar is reaching hearts across the globe now with #PrimeVideo, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that, “ he wrote.
“Your DMs and appreciation mean everything to me and the entire Chandu Champion team. Thank you for making this journey so special. Let’s keep the Champion spirit alive,” Kartik signed off, thanking again the audience
Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion follows Petkar’s journey from boxing to swimming. Kartik plays the titular role in the film.
Originally a boxer, Petkar served in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in the Indian Army. However, he was disabled during the 1965 war against Pakistan, sustaining severe bullet wounds, which led him to compete in swimming and other sports. He participated in table tennis at the 1968 Summer Paralympics and secured four medals in swimming.
Released theatrically on June 14, Chandu Champion earned Rs 87.25 crore nett worldwide, according to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk.
Kartik will next be seen in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan. Produced under the banner of T-Series Films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is slated to hit theatres on November 1 on the occasion of Diwali.
