Actor Kartik Aaryan on Monday recalled how he witnessed Satyaprem Ki Katha director Sameer Vidwans and assistant director Juliee Sonalkar’s love story unfold on the sets of the 2023 romance drama in a congratulatory note for the newlyweds following their June 29 wedding.
“A love story which we literally saw blooming in front of us on the sets of Satyaprem Ki Katha... so happy to be part of your beautiful journey. Congratulations @sameervidwans sir and @juilee_sonalkar,” wrote Kartik on Instagram, sharing a set of pictures with the newlywed couple.
Pictures from the reception show Kartik looking dapper in a blue suit. While Sameer sported an embellished monochrome sherwani suit, Juliee looked gorgeous in a sequined gown. For their wedding, Sameer chose a golden sherwani and Juliee draped a green embroidered sari.
Sharing photographs from the wedding, Juliee noted how June 29 also marked the one-year anniversary of Satyaprem Ki Katha. “29th June was EPIC! 4 major events in a day. Got married. Celebrated 1 year to the release of our dearest Satyaprem Ki Katha. Celebrated Baba’s Birthday. India won the Worldcup,” read Juliee’s caption for her wedding carousel.
Satyaprem Ki Katha revolves around Sattu (Kartik), a frustrated and unemployed law student who falls in love with Katha (Kiara Advani) at a Garba celebration but is heartbroken when he learns that she is already in a relationship. After Katha's breakup and subsequent suicide attempt, Sattu saves her, leading to their arranged marriage, but Katha's past trauma hinders their intimacy. Sattu supports Katha through her healing process and they begin a new chapter of their lives together. The film also stars Gajraj Rao, Rajpal Yadav and Supriya Pathak in supporting roles.
As per industry data-tracking site Sacnilk, Satyaprem Ki Katha earned Rs 77.04 crore nett at the domestic box office.
On the work front, Kartik has been earning accolades for his performance in Kabir Khan’s latest sports drama Chandu Champion, which was released theatrically on June 14.
Chandu Champion revolves around the life and struggles of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, who was originally a boxer. Petkar served in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in the Indian Army. However, he was disabled during the 1965 war against Pakistan, sustaining severe bullet wounds, which led him to compete in swimming and other sports. He participated in table tennis at the 1968 Summer Paralympics and secured four medals in swimming.
According to Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 58.85 crore nett at the domestic box office.
Kartik will be next seen in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan. Produced under the banner of T-Series Films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is slated to hit the theatres on November 1 on the occasion of Diwali.
