Kartik Aaryan reacts to Kapil Dev’s review of Chandu Champion: ‘This means the world to us’

Released on June 14, the Kabir Khan-directed sports drama has already earned 29.75 Cr nett at the domestic box office

Former Team India skipper Kapil Dev has praised Kabir Khan’s storytelling and Kartik Aaryan’s performance in the latest sports drama Chandu Champion, prompting Kartik to express gratitude for the commendation from the cricket legend.

“Definitely a film you cannot miss. I really enjoy watching and appreciate sport films. But this goes beyond being just a sports film. It is so much more. While watching it I have laughed, cried, felt pride and cried some more,” wrote Kapil on Instagram on Tuesday alongside pictures with the lead actor and the director of the film.

“Hats off to @kabirkhankk. You have done it again. Made yet another spectacular film. What an incredible performance by @kartikaaryan, your effort and talent is shining,” the former cricketer added, congratulating the entire cast and crew of the film.

“You are all champions,” Kapil signed off.

Resharing Kapil’s post, Kartik acknowledged the former’s grit and resilience and thanked him for his commendatory remarks about the sports biopic.

“Coming from the Champion of Grit and Resilience, this means the world to us sir. Thank you Sir,” wrote the 33-year-old actor in his caption on Instagram.

Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion revolves around the life and struggles of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, who was originally a boxer. Petkar served in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in the Indian Army. However, he was disabled during the 1965 war against Pakistan, sustaining severe bullet wounds, which led him to compete in swimming and other sports. He participated in table tennis at the 1968 Summer Paralympics and secured four medals in swimming.

According to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk, the film has already earned Rs 29.75 crore nett at the domestic box office since its release on June 14.

Kartik will be next seen in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan. Produced under the banner of T-Series Films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is slated to hit theatres on November 1 on the occasion of Diwali.
