Actor Kartik Aaryan has started shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the third instalment of the hit horror franchise, he announced on Instagram on Saturday.

“Starting The Biggest Film Of My Career Today #Shubharambh #BhoolBhulaiyaa3 ,” the 33-year-old actor wrote alongside a picture of him praying in front of a temple at home.

Fans immediately took to the comments section and extended their best wishes to the actor. “Wish you all the very best! You are going to kill it,” one of them wrote.

Previously, T-Series had announced that the film will go on floors in March. Sharing a candid picture of Kartik in conversation with director Anees Bazmee and producer Bhushan Kumar, the production company wrote, “The third instalment of your favourite horror-comedy franchise is set to go on floors this March.”

Kartik will reprise his role as Rooh Baba from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in the third instalment. The film also stars Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan in key roles.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which featured Kiara Advani and Tabu in important roles, revolved around a trapped spirit seeking revenge. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film released in theatres on May 20, 2022 and went on to become one of the highest-grossing hits of that year.

The first film in the franchise, which starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, dealt with the latter’s character suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder, which was seen by her family members as a supernatural possession by a vengeful spirit. It also starred Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel and Paresh Rawal.

Helmed by Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is reportedly slated to release on Diwali this year.
