Kareena Kapoor’s OTT debut is titled Jaane Jaan, Netflix India announced on Friday, unveiling the first look of Kareena, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat from the Sujoy Ghosh directorial based on Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s thriller novel The Devotion of Suspect X.

The 25-second-long clip promises an intense and gritty thriller. “Jaane Jaan is coming ✨ on our very own Jaane Jaan’s birthday @kareenakapoorkhan ♥ ️ Mark your calendars for a present like no other. #JaaneJaan arrives 21 September, only on Netflix,” the streaming platform wrote alongside the video.

The clip begins with Kareena lip-syncing to a rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic song Jaane Jaan in a dark, neon-lit room. The teaser also unveils the first look of Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat and Darlings star Vijay Varma. The video ends with rapidly edited montages of adrenaline-charged action sequences from the film.

The story of Higashino’s The Devotion of Suspect X centres on a divorced, single mother's attempt to conceal her estranged husband's murder with the help of her neighbour, amidst an ongoing police inquiry.

Kareena was last seen alongside Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha. She is also awaiting the release of her film The Crew, co-starring Tabu and Kriti Sanon. Apart from that, an upcoming film directed by Hansal Mehta is also in Kareena's lineup.

Jaane Jaan is slated to release on September 21, which also marks Kareena’s 43rd birthday.
