Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller Jaane Jaan — starring Kareena Kapoor, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat — has made it to the list of top 10 films on Netflix in 27 countries, the streaming platform announced on Friday.
Sharing a poster carrying the names of the countries in which the film has made it to the top 10 list, the streamer wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “There's only one thing on our minds and it's these Jaane Jaans ✨.”
Jaane Jaan, which marks Kareena Kapoor’s OTT debut, is currently at the no. 1 position in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The film, based on Keigo Higashino’s thriller novel The Devotion of Suspect X, is positioned in the top 10 list in South America, Asia and Africa and some of the Caribbean countries, according to Netflix.
Released on September 21, the film has been ranked in the top 10 list in South American countries such as Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia and Caribbean nations like Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago.
In the African continent, Sujoy’s film has found a spot in the top 10 list in Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco and Nigeria.
Jaane Jaan follows a single mother, Mrs. D’Souza, who gets caught up in a police investigation after being forced to murder her estranged husband under dire circumstances. Played by Kareena, Mrs. D'Souza receives help from her neighbour, a gifted maths teacher, to conceal the murder.
Kareena will be next seen in The Crew, an upcoming film also starring Tabu and Kriti Sanon. A film directed by Hansal Mehta is also in Kareena's lineup.
