The fourth episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 saw Bollywood’s Sisters No. 1, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, make their first-ever television appearance together. With the Kapoor sisters’ merry mix of banter and charisma, the episode brought the laughter back when Ka and Ka were in the frame. Here are our favourite moments.
Sharing stories of legacy and laughter
To kick things off, Kareena and Karisma shared some cherished moments, dating back to their childhood and early acting days. The first Kapoor girls to have made it big in Bollywood didn’t hold back with the memories and the mirth.
Known as a queen of gossip, Kareena for once handed the spotlight to her elder sister, letting her lead the storytelling session. Karisma didn’t disappoint! She entertained everyone with her first reactions to learning about Kareena’s relationship with Saif Ali Khan, as well as a funny incident with Varun Dhawan, son of her favourite director David Dhawan, during a shoot in Switzerland.
Rib-tickling game of dumb charades
The episode reached its comedic peak with a round of dumb charades. The sisters mimicked famous family members and stars with an enthusiasm that had the audience — and even Kapil — rolling with laughter. If Bebo aced Govinda’s moves, Sanjay Dutt’s walk, and Rekha’s grace, she drew a blank when it came to impersonating cousin Ranbir, to which Lolo exclaimed that the ‘Badtameez dil’ step would have been the thing to do!
Lolo on her part came up with on-point acts mirroring grand-uncle Shammi Kapoor’s dance steps, Salman Khan’s iconic towel step – which a “zoned out” Bebo could not catch! – followed by his Dabangg grooves which she could, and finally Hema Malini’s Sholay number. Their showing in this round, laughed Lolo, proved that the sisters did know a “little bit of acting”.
Shweta Tiwari’s cameo
For those who remember, Kapil and Shweta paired up on Comedy Circus once, and their zany energy made it feel like old times. Her surprise opening act got the episode going even before the Kapoor sisters hit the couch.
Krushna, Kiku, and Rajiv in the mood
The regular cast was in top form, with Krushna Abhishek donning his Govinda persona as Raja Babu. Rajiv Thakur became Shakti Kapoor’s ‘Nandu sabka bandhu’ while Kiku Sharda played Muthu from Saajan Chale Sasural. Their antics were so OTT that even they couldn’t contain their laughter — honestly, it was almost like watching a blooper reel.
Sunil Grover’s Chumbak antics
Apart from donning his Chumbak Engineer avatar, Sunil Grover transformed into Aamir Khan from Laal Singh Chaddha, Salman Khan from Bigg Boss, and Shah Rukh Khan from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham with aplomb. But at the end, Grover in the bathtub and then dripping wet demanding a hug (and getting one from a cringing Kareena) quickly took the show into the eeeewwww zone.
