Kareena Kapoor stepped into the world of cinema with J. P. Dutta’s Refugee on today’s date way back in 2000. Recalling the beginning of her journey, the actress has celebrated her 23-year-long career by posting a photo of what she does best — facing the camera.

"23 years of being born in front of the camera today…🌈❤ And Hell ya another 23 to go," the 42-year-old actress posted on Instagram on June 30 alongside a photo of her from the shooting of a new project.

Anil Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Vijay Varma and Neha Dhupia were among the several Bollywood stars who sent their wishes for the actress. “Many congratulations Bebo ji. You’re the best ❤️,” Lust Stories 2 star Vijay Varma commented under the post, while Kareena’s Chup Chup Ke co-star Neha Dhupia wrote, “More ❤️”.

Kareena’s debut film is also the first movie of Abhishek Bachchan, who would go on to share screen space with the actress in three other films — Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003), Yuva (2004) and LOC: Kargil (2003).

Refugee centred around Manzur Ahmed (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and his family members who were among the many Muslims to relocate to Pakistan to avoid religious persecution after the Partition.

Kareena was only 20 at the time of her debut, while Abhishek was 24. Despite an average box office collection, the film shot both Kareena and Abhishek into limelight with positive reviews for their eye-catching performances.

Kareena has several movies in the pipeline for the coming year, including Hansal Mehta's untitled next and James Tolich’s The Crew.
