Filmmaker Karan Johar talks about love, referring to romance shown in his blockbusters Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), in the latest promo video of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming web series Love Storiyaan, dropped by the streaming platform on Wednesday.
“Or maybe pyaar is helping your dadaji cheat on your kharoos dadi (Perhaps, love is helping your grandpa cheat on your grumpy grandma),” he says in the video, referring to his latest hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani before going on to describe how Love Storiyaan — an anthology series on real-life stories — is different from his films.
“See, love in my movies is easy....jo bhi conflict ho, I solved it with gaana, glycerine and group hug (whatever be the conflict, I solved it with songs, glycerine and a group hug),” says the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham director.
Backed by Karan, Love Storiyaan recognises and honours the love stories of six real-life couples who overcame hatred, prejudice and fear in their journey of togetherness. “They found love and in them I found hope,” says Karan, talking about the series meant to uphold the invincibility of love.
The makers of Love Storiyaan recently shared a poster on social media, announcing its release date.
“This Valentine’s, we bring you stories that will make you believe in the magic of love.inspired by real life couples and created by the makers of fairytale romances,” wrote Amazon Prime Video on Instagram on Tuesday.
With stories directed by Akshay Indikar, Archana Phadke, Collin D’Cunha, Hardik Mehta, Shazia Iqbal and Vivek Soni, Love Storiyaan is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 14.
The web series will be ringing in the Valentine's Day spirit not just in India but also in 240 other countries and territories across the world.
