Filmmaker Karan Johar on Wednesday shared a short video of Ranbir Kapoor waking up from slumber as Siddharth Mehra from the 2009 film Wake Up Sid, speculating a sequel to the Ayan Mukerji directorial.
“Is this really happening? All I know is something exciting is brewing and I couldn’t have woken up to a better piece of news,” wrote the 51-year-old filmmaker alongside the video.
The reel shows Ranbir’s Siddharth a.k.a Sid awakening from his slumber on a garden chair. A woman’s voiceover says, “Sid, wake up, it’s Rishi’s day.” The title track of Wake Up Sid plays in the background and the text “Is the gang back?” flashes, hinting at a possible sequel.
The video elicited enthusiastic responses from fans hoping for a sequel to Ayan’s film. “I know it’s just an ad, but actually I’d love to see Sid & Aisha’s life 15 years down the line,” commented a social media user.
Lately, a video of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sensharma rehearsing a scene on the sets of an undisclosed movie has been doing the rounds on social media.
Produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, Wake Up Sid, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sensharma and Anupam Kher, was released on October 2, 2009.
