Filmmaker Karan Johar has said that he would maintain ‘an undignified silence’ on the charges of nepotism levelled against him in his latest Instagram post, sharing a video of comedian Zarna Garg’s hilarious take on how Karan has influenced the younger generation.

“Auntie Z giving us her TOTD ( thought of her day). I am rarely speechless but i thought on this topic I should maintain an undignified silence. She doesn’t use the L word and I stay away from the N word! We are a match made In digital heaven,” Karan wrote alongside the video that shows Zarna taking a dig at the film producer.

“Karan why are you giving all these new people hope...Nepotism was great,” says the Indian-American stand-up comedian, leaving Karan speechless for a moment. The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director then hugs Garg, whispering, “I love you.” The latter’s reply, “We don’t use the ‘L’ word around here,” leaves Karan amused.

Zarna, who is currently in India for her show Practical People Win, joined Karan for the video in which she calls the latter her ‘nemesis’. “This man has created so much aggravation in my life. Indian kids all over the world growing up becoming doctors, accountants, computer people; if they did not know anything, becoming lawyers. We were fine with that. And now they all want to be actors and whatever,” says Zarna.

Her following comments satirise charges of nepotism often levelled against Karan. “No one needs to think outside the box. Staying inside the box is how we produced doctors. Now, what are we going to be proud of? What’s the answer,” quips Garg. The video ends with the 51-year-old filmmaker convincing Garg to say his favourite word ‘tootles’.

On the work front, Karan is all set to co-produce Vasan Bala’s thriller Jigra with Alia, slated to release in September. He recently produced Sagar Ambre and Muhammad Asif Ali’s Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashi Khanna under the banner of Dharma Productions.
