Karan shared that his father often embraced him to express his affection. One of the pictures from Karan’s childhood shows Yash embracing his son and his wife Hiroo Johar, while in another Karan is seen planting a kiss on his dad’s cheeks as the latter hugs him.

“A quick moment of family hugs...something that you could find in my family in abundance, thanks to him,” wrote Karan in his note.

Karan also shared a picture from his 30th birthday. He stated that a film directed by him had just been released and he believed that his father was proud of him. The last picture of the series captures Yash and Karan together on stage during what appears to be an awards ceremony.

“A moment shared on stage with him...etched in my mind and heart,” wrote Karan, fondly looking back at the moment.

“Miss you every day papa, thank you for being the brightest guiding light for me, till date,” the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director signed off.

Born on September 6, 1929 in Amritsar, Punjab, Yash launched his own production company Dharma Productions in 1976. He is known for backing films like Dostana (1980), Agneepath (1990), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). He passed away at the age of 74 on June 26, 2004 in Mumbai.

On the work front, Karan is currently awaiting the release of Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s Jigra. The film is co-produced by Dharma Productions, alongside Alia’s home banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.
