Filmmaker Karan Johar penned an emotional note for his mother, Hiroo Johar, and posted photos with her on the latter’s 80th birthday.

Taking to Instagram, the 50-year old director thanked his mum for believing in him and cited her as his inspiration. “My brave and resilient mama turns 80 today.... She taught me how to love ...how to stand for what I believe in ... never apologise or justify myself if I was in the right... never pretend to be anyone I wasn't .... She is as much my conscience as she is my fashion police,” he wrote.

“I love you mom to the planets and back .... I would never have been able to raise Roohi and Yash without you.....#mymommyhero,” he added.

As soon as Karan posted the note on social media, celebrities descended on the comments section to wish his mum. Sonali Bendre, Shilpa Shetty, Malaika Arora, Ananya Panday, Shweta Bachchan, Ronit Bose were among those who extended their greetings to Hiroo.

Meanwhile, Karan has recently finished shooting for his next directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Churni Ganguly. The film is scheduled to hit the cinemas on July 28.
