Filmmaker Karan Johar on Wednesday called the title track of his 2003 film Kal Ho Naa Ho an immortal melody of love, loss and hope, thanking singer Sonu Nigam and lyricist Javed Akhtar for creating a number that evokes a wide range of emotions.
“A song in the @dharmamovies repertoire that will always be so personal to me for so many reasons. Will always be eternally grateful to Javedsaab SEL and Sonu for giving us this immortal melody. A song that is about hope, love and loss,” Karan wrote on Instagram alongside a montage of moving scenes from various movies backed by his production banner.
The video Karan shared includes scenes from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Shershaah, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Karan emphasised the Kal Ho Naa Ho song's ability to evoke a wide range of emotions. “As much a song for a broken heart as it is for hopeful romance. The inherent quality of this song to transcend a gamut of emotions makes it the “go to” audio soothing support,” he wrote in his post.
“Emotions are universal and here are some moments from our movies that hopefully have struck a chord,” Karan signed off.
Starring Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta, Kal Ho Naa Ho was released theatrically on November 28, 2003.
