Filmmakers Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai and Boney Kapoor have heaped praise on Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, which marks the acting debut of several star kids including Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
“The production design, the cinematography, the choreography , the costume design will blow your mind with its on fleek detailing and aesthetic victories,” Karan wrote on Instagram.
Praising Agastya Nanda for making “a complicated and sometimes an unlikeable character so lovable” and Khushi Kapoor for breaking his heart “in the most beautiful way”, Karan gave a shout out to the debutants. “She’s here to stay and conquer,” he wrote for Suhana.
Film producer Boney Kapoor said that the film took him back to school days, when Archie’s comics were popular among youngsters.
“Took me back to my school days when Archie's comics were every youngster’s favorite past time, the world created by Zoya takes you back to the past, every actor is perfectly cast, the songs are absolutely in tune with Archie’s world, the entire crew needs to be complimented…,” he wrote on Instagram.
Actress Katrina Kaif praised this coming-of-age story in her Instagram story. “The Archies takes you back to an era of innocence and charm that we seem to have forgotten, so beautifully crafted and attention given to each and every frame”, she wrote.
Not only did the Tiger 3 actress eulogise Zoya’s choice of genre but also her “endearing” and “perfect” cast. While she admired Mihir Ahuja for his “comic timing”, Aditi Saigal won her heart with her “quirky role”.
The Khalnayak director Subhash Ghai has also reviewed this film portraying a captivating GenZ love triangle. “I attended premier of Archies and she (Zoya Akhtar) displays her musical dynamics wonderfully-A broadway style with real life performances from stars kids and new talent so beautifully,” wrote the veteran filmmaker on X (formerly Twitter) following the film’s December 5 premier at Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center.
