Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon posted a series of pictures with Taapsee Pannu on the third anniversary of the Netflix thriller Haseen Dillruba on Tuesday, teasing the release of its sequel Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba.

Praising Taapsee’s portrayal of Rani Kashyap in Haseen Dillruba, which also starred 12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey, Kanika hinted that the sequel will premiere on Netflix very soon.

“With my Haseen Dillruba — it’s been 3 Years of this roller-coaster journey, Rani Kashyap — you have been a leading lady for me, not just with your immense talent — but gumption to stand with me against all odds in the endeavor to tell the most Haseen story,” wrote Kanika in a long note on Instagram.

Referring to a dialogue about “love and madness” from the 2021 thriller helmed by Vinil Mathew, Kanika confirmed that she was serving as the screenwriter for the sequel. “I am back in my Dinesh Pandit avatar and the journey from Haseen Dillruba to Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba has been one of love and madness,” she wrote.

“We will meet you once again with Dinesh Pandit, Haseen Dillruba and Rishu,” she signed off, hinting that the sequel could arrive on Netflix in the near future.

Haseen Dillruba revolved around Rani and Rishabh’s ingenious attempts to cover up the murder of the former’s lover Neel Tripathi (Harshvardhan Rane), employing strategies detailed in Dinesh Pandit's gripping thriller Kasauli Ka Kahar. The movie also featured Aditya Srivastava in a key role.

A teaser of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba dropped by Netflix in February has revealed that Taapsee and Vikrant are set to reprise their roles from the original film.

Meanwhile, Taapsee is set to star alongside Akshay Kumar in the comedy Khel Khel Mein. The 36-year-old actress will also appear in Barath Neelakantan's sci-fi project Alien.

Vikrant, on the other hand, is set to headline Devang Shashin Bhavsar’s Blackout and Ranjan Chandel’s The Sabarmati Report. The 37-year-old actor will also star in Yaar Jigri and Sector 36.
