A beard-sporting, long-haired Suriya hacks his enemies led by Bobby Deol’s menacing antagonist in an eerie Kanguva teaser, dropped by the makers on Tuesday.
Set to a haunting score by Devi Sri Prasad, the 51-second-long teaser introduces fans to the brutal world of Kanguva, marked by violence, bloodshed and ceaseless wars. “Brace yourself for Kanguva world,” reads the tagline at the beginning of the video, before showing a fleet of ships and women bathing in blood in preparation for an imminent war. The video’s haunting nature escalates with Suriya’s entry, who is seen unsheathing his sword for his epic showdown with Bobby’s ferocious antagonist.
Suriya’s ruthless warrior sports a deadlock hairstyle and a garland made of teeth. Bobby, on the other hand, wears a deer skull and ribs around his chest while being surrounded by women with their arms stretched out during a ritual in the video.
Sharing the teaser on X (formerly Twitter), Suriya wrote, “A glimpse of #Kanguva guys.”
“A story that travels 500 years from 1700’s to 2023 about a Hero who has to fulfil a mission left unfinished. #Kanguva available post-theatrical release,” reads Prime Video’s official synopsis of the film, shared during the announcement of its content slate on Tuesday. Kanguva will be streaming on Prime Video following its theatrical release.
The entire team of Kanguva, including Suriya, Bobby, Yogi Babu and director Siva, attended Prime Video’s content slate announcement event on Tuesday. “TEAM #kanguva,” Bobby wrote alongside pictures from the event, which also features Varun Dhawan.
Touted as a “saga of a mighty valiant hero”, Kanguva will feature Suriya in six different roles. The movie will be released in 10 languages including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil.
Produced under the banner of Studio Green, Kanguva will mark Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s Telugu debut. While its cinematography is by Vetri Palanisamy, Devi Sri Prasad has worked with the soundtrack of the film.
