Kanguva Day 2 box office: Suriya’s fantasy drama witnesses drop in collection

Directed by Siva, the Tamil-language film starring Bobby Deol and Disha Patani has earned Rs 33 crore nett in India so far

Suriya’s Tamil fantasy action drama Kanguva witnessed a drop in collections on its second day, after kicking off its theatrical journey with a bang at the box office on Day 1, according to latest trade reports.

Kanguva, directed by Siva, raked in Rs 24 crore nett in India on its release day. The global figures were even more impressive, with the film amassing a total of Rs 58.62 crore gross, marking the biggest opening for Suriya’s career.

However, despite the initial euphoria, Kanguva struggled to maintain its momentum on its second day. According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, the film’s Day 2 collection in India plummeted to Rs 9 crore nett. The total collection of the film in India now stands at Rs 33 crore nett.

Meanwhile, Hollywood’s latest epic, Gladiator II, which released on Friday, earned Rs 1.5 crore nett in India on its opening day. It performed better than The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, which managed to earn Rs 1.15 crore nett on Day 1.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the sequel to the 2000 classic Gladiator stars Paul Mescal in the lead role, alongside heavyweights like Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Connie Nielsen.

Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which entered its third week on Friday, continued its momentum at the box office, earning Rs 4 crore nett. This takes the total collection of the Anees Bazmee-directed horror-comedy film to Rs 220.25 crore nett.

Singham Again, which released in theatres alongside Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, managed to rake in Rs 2.75 nett on Friday, taking the total collection of the Rohit Shetty-directed cop actioner to Rs 223.25 nett.
