Five days after its theatrical release, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 has been shortened by 12 minutes, makers Lyca Productions said in a social media statement on Wednesday.
Initially released with a runtime of three hours and four minutes, Indian 2 has now been edited down to two hours and 52 minutes.
“We heard you,” the poster shared by Lyca Productions said. “Witness the enhanced version of #Indian2 ✂️ Now presenting a streamlined edition trimmed by 12 min. Catch it in cinemas near you for a crisper experience! 💥,” the caption of the post read.
Debuting in theatres on July 12, Indian 2 was met with negative feedback from critics and audiences alike. A sequel to the 1996 action-drama Indian, the film features Kamal Haasan as freedom-fighter-turned-vigilante Senapathy.
The ensemble cast of Indian 2 includes Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Nedumudi Venu, Vivekh and Simha. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music of the film.
Indian 2 has collected Rs 65.15 crore nett in India so far, with the Tamil version contributing Rs 45.55 crore nett and the Telugu version raking in Rs 14.95 crore nett. The Hindi-dubbed version has collected Rs 4.65 crore nett only.
A third instalment in the franchise, titled Indian 3 — War Mode, is slated to hit cinemas in 2025.
