Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has joined Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone for the upcoming science fiction action film Project K.

On Sunday, the makers of the film took to social media to welcome the Vikram actor on board. Sharing a clip of Kamal’s many iconic roles over the years, the social media page of Vyjayanthi Movies wrote, “Welcoming the greatest actor Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan. Our journey becomes Universal now. #ProjectK.”

“We needed someone whose shadow could cover the earth. There was only one… Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan,” the text appears in the video.

As soon as the announcement was made, Prabhas took to Instagram to express his joy and share the video. “A moment that will be etched in my heart forever. Honored beyond words to collaborate with the legendary @ikamalhaasan sir in #ProjectK. The opportunity to learn and grow alongside such a titan of cinema is a dream come true moment,” he wrote.

Amitabh Bachchan also welcomed his Geraftaar (1995) co-star to the film through an Instagram post. “Welcome Kamal .. great working with you again .. it’s been a while !” he wrote.

Project K director Nag Ashwin, who is known for helming Mahanati (2018) and Pitta Kathalu (2021), also shared the video on Twitter. “Welcoming the greatest actor Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan. Our journey becomes Universal now. #ProjectK,” he wrote.

Project K will mark actress Deepika Padukone’s debut in the Telugu film industry. The film is being shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously and will release in multiple languages across the country. Earlier this year, the makers had announced that the film will release on January 12, 2024.
