Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life will release on June 5, 2025, the makers announced on the actor’s 70th birthday on Thursday, dropping a teaser for the actioner directed by Mani Ratnam.
“His STORY, His RULES #KHBirthdayCelebrations #HBDKamalHaasan #ThugLifeFromJune5,” the official handle of Raaj Kamal Films International posted on social media alongside the 45-second teaser.
The teaser, edited to a pulse-pounding beat, features Kamal Haasan sporting a rugged look with a thick beard. His character is seen engaging in fierce combat. Silambarasan TR, who shares the screen with Haasan, features in some of the scenes, celebrating Holi in one shot and leaping with a blood-soaked weapon in another. The video also teases a younger version of Haasan in a clean-shaven look.
The plot details of Thug Life remain under wraps as of now.
Thug Life marks the long-awaited reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after a 36-year gap, following their successful 1987 collaboration Nayakan. This project brings together an impressive ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Nassar, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Abhirami.
The film’s technical team is equally stellar, featuring cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman, editor Sreekar Prasad, and action director Anbariv, promising a visually stunning and musically immersive experience.
Thug Life is a joint production of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies.
