Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD has so far sold over five lakh tickets through advance bookings for Day 1, collecting Rs 15.92 crore gross ahead of its release on June 27, according to the industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.
The Nag Ashwin-helmed dystopian actioner, also featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, began its advance bookings on June 23.
The Telugu version of Kalki 2898 AD has led advance bookings, grossing an impressive Rs 14.46 crore with over 4.5 lakh tickets being sold. The Tamil version, however, grossed over Rs 14.75 lakh by selling 8,934 tickets.
The Hindi version grossed over Rs 1.15 crore with 37,952 tickets sold, while The Malayalam version earned over Rs 1.9 lakh with 1,126 tickets sold. The Kannada version has had a slower start, grossing over Rs 42,300 from 182 tickets sold.
The Prabhas-starrer has also created a buzz internationally. With just two days to go before its release, Kalki 2898 AD has already sold over 1,25,000 tickets in North America, confirms Prathyangira Cinemas, the film’s distributor in the region.
“Star Star Rebel Star #Kalki2898AD isn’t just the release of a movie. It’s havoc. It’s madness. The world is under its mania YET ANOTHER ROCK SOLID - 125K tickets sold in North America now ,” the official handle of the cinema chain wrote on X.
Kalki 2898 AD portrays Kasi as the last surviving city, now a desert wasteland ruled by a totalitarian elite under Supreme Yaskin, revered as a god-king. Their stronghold is the Complex, a colossal inverted-pyramidal megastructure. Central to the storyline is the arrival of Kalki, a mysterious figure and the final avatar of Vishnu.
